#5 Montabi Devlog Updates

Moving to MVP

We're excited to bring you the fifth devlog update for Montabi, as we move from the prototype phase to the vertical slice phase. This means we're building our minimum viable product (MVP) which will feature a small loop of the game with all the art and polish we can implement. Our objective is to validate our game to a wider audience and prove our concept to future publishers.

In terms of game design, we're happy with the latest iteration about events, and we're now breaking down the details of how they're triggered and designed. For example, we're figuring out how events can be tied to monster stats to make player decisions matter even more. The goal is to make raising a monster a more immersive experience, and we're excited to see how this feature develops.

Art updates

From the art side, we've made some good progress with the polishing of the stadium, garage and city designs. We're testing different approaches for animating our monsters, such as frame-by-frame animation or using Spine. We're also trying out different shader effects to make the stadium feel more alive.

We've also made some significant progress with our monster designs, including the "Samurai Corgi", "Hotdog", and "Fire Hydrant". However, we've received feedback that some of our designs are too common, so we're tweaking them to make them stand out more.

UI Style Iteration

Finally, we're testing several UI styles to determine what looks best for the game. We're taking in all the feedback we've received from our community and are excited to continue sharing our progress with you.

Xbox Discovery Day

Last week, we had the opportunity to attend the Xbox Discovery Day in Singapore, where we met with numerous developers and publishers in the gaming industry. We were able to showcase Montabi and get valuable feedback from various professionals in the field. This event provided us with a great opportunity to connect with other members of the gaming community and share our progress on Montabi. We received a lot of positive feedback and were able to gather some valuable insights that will help us improve our game. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we are excited to continue moving forward with Montabi's development

We hope you're as excited about Montabi as we are! Stay tuned for our next devlog update, where we'll share more details about our progress towards completing our MVP. As always, feel free to follow us on Twitter and join our Discord to stay updated on all things Montabi.
